OUR BY-LAWS

  1. This club shall be known as the Nassau Wings, Inc..
  2. The officers of the club shall be President, Vice-President, Secretary, Chief Legislative Officer, Treasurer, Sergeant-At-Arms, and Club Referee. These officers preside over scheduled club meetings only and have no responsibility during road events.
  3. The Duties of the President shall be:
    1. To preside at all meetings of the club.
    2. To have general supervision over the affairs of the club.
    3. To appoint any person or committee not otherwise ordered by the club.
    4. To personally represent the club on proper occasions and business contacts.
    5. To assist all other members of the club in their records, correspondence, and other duties.
    6. To promote interest on the part of each member in club life and activities.
    7. To vote only when necessary to break a tie.
  4. The Duties of the Vice-President shall be to perform the duties of the President in his absence.
  5. The Duties of the Secretary shall be:
    1. To keep a record of all meetings of the club.
    2. To send out notices of regular or special meetings.
    3. To handle all club correspondence.
    4. To perform such other duties as generally fall to that office.
  6. The Duties of the Chief Legislative Officer shall be to monitor local and state legislative activities affecting motorcycling, to assist the Secretary with correspondence regarding the above matters, and perform the duties of the Secretary in his/her absence.
  7. The Duties of the Treasurer shall be:
    1. To collect dues from all the members.
    2. To collect all other money due the club.
    3. To keep records of all money transactions of the club.
    4. To keep a list of all active members.
    5. To give financial reports annually and when requested.
  8. The Duties of the Executive Board shall be:
    1. To act for the club in all matters ordered by the club.
    2. To make final decisions upon member expulsions.
    3. To properly investigate and present to the club all business or important activity situations.
    4. To have general control over all club affairs.
    5. To arouse interest in activities.
    6. To assist in holding club socials, parties and other functions.
    7. In place of Executive Board, the officers of the club shall act upon said responsibilities.
  9. The Duties of the selected Road Captains shall be:
    1. To lead the club in formation riding or parades.
    2. To enforce all rules of group riding.
  10. The Duties of the Sergeant-at-Arms shall be to have general supervision at all club functions and to retrieve and reclaim outstanding club property.
  11. The Duties of the Referee shall be to maintain records regarding road run performance and to forward same to the appropriate AMA District Representative.
  12. All elective offices shall be filled at an annual election to be held in December of each year and all officers shall hold office for one year or until their successors are elected and qualified.
  13. The regular meetings of the club shall be held twice a month, but the President or Executive Board may call a special meeting at any time by advance notice.
  14. Two-Thirds (2/3) of the active members of the club in good standing shall constitute a quorum for transaction of club business.
  15. The bylaws may be amended or added to, providing the proposed amendment is submitted in writing at a regular club meeting. It shall then be voted upon at that meeting. A (2/3) majority of all active members in good standing is required to pass an amendment.
  16. Motions will be brought up and seconded at a meeting but not actually voted on until it has been documented in the newsletter. Once the newsletter is published and circulated, the motion will be voted upon at the next meeting. This is to allow members not present at the first meeting the chance to be informed of the issue and to be present at the vote.
  17. No officer shall serve more than two (2) consecutive terms in a single position. The officer may switch offices if he/she likes but cannot hold the same office for more than two (2) consecutive terms.
ByLaws
  1. Roberts Rules of Order shall govern the parliamentary proceedings of this club unless otherwise provided in these bylaws. The order of business shall be:
    1. Roll Call.
    2. Reading of minutes of previous meeting, if deemed necessary.
    3. Report of officers.
    4. Unfinished business.
    5. New business.
  2. The Activities Committee, together with the Road Captains, shall have general charge of all tours, runs, and club social functions, subject to such orders as the club may give.
  3. The club dues shall be $50.00 per year to be paid at the first meeting in January. Any member one month or more behind in his dues shall be considered not in good standing and shall not be entitled to vote at club meetings and shall be approached by one or more members of the Executive Board as to his membership. Exception: with special permission of President and Treasurer; extension of payment of one month based on a individual's situation.
  4. All bills must be checked and approved by the Executive Board before they are paid. All checks should be signed by both the Treasurer and an additional club officer. If transaction is done in cash, in ledger the transaction must show two signatures.
  5. Applications for membership must be by two active members of the club in good standing. Applicant must attend four meetings, make two rides and be voted in by 100% of quorum. Upon payment of dues, applicant will be placed on probation for a period of three months, and applicant will receive a patch (colors of club).
  6. Only active members in good standing shall be eligible to hold office in the club.
  7. Any member who is over three months behind in his dues may be expelled from the club by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of those members in good standing present at any meeting and said members will return the club's patch.
  8. A member may be expelled for conduct unbecoming a member of the club, but charges must first be made in writing and the accused member given a hearing before the Executive Board. The Executive Board shall take evidence and report its findings to the club with the recommendation that the charges be considered proven and the accused member be expelled, or that the charges be considered not proven and the accused member remain a member of the club. The club shall thereupon take a vote to decide whether or not the recommendation of the Executive Board shall be adopted. It shall require a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the active members in good standing present to veto the recommendation of the Executive Board.
  9. Club colors shall be worn at all club functions by members and their riders only. Colors shall be worn in such a fashion so that they will always be visible.
  10. There shall be no consumption of alcoholic beverages, use of any drugs or riding while impaired on any club rides.
  11. Every committee shall be supervised by an officer of the club.
  12. Anyone becoming a member of the club will, throughout the year, attend as many club functions as possible.
  13. If a member leaves the club for any reason, he must return the club patch to an officer.
  14. On all rides, members will abide by motor vehicle laws.
  15. Explanation of Associate Member:
    1. Non-riding dues paying member.
    2. No voting rights.
    3. An Associate member may become a full member by:
      1. Making two rides with the club on his or her own motorcycle.
      2. Must be voted in by 100% of quorum.
      3. Must pay the balance of the difference between Full Membership and Associate Membership.
  16. Dues for Associate Members per year will be:
    1. Half of present dues.
    2. Associate members must pay $5.00 to receive a patch.
  17. The colors shall always be the dominant patch.
  18. Explanation of Absentee Member:
    1. A member who is unable to participate in club functions due to extenuating circumstances (i.e. relocation or health).
    2. No voting rights.
    3. An Absentee Member may continue receiving the newsletter.
    4. An Absentee Member may return to Full or Associate Member status by paying the difference between the Absentee Membership and the desired updated status.
  19. Dues for Absentee Members per year will be:
    1. Half of the present Associate Member dues, payable the first month of every year.
    2. Absentee Members must pay the full price (market price) for additional patches.
